Other goodies

I'm not just limited to making cakes. I also love to make cookies and other pastries. Here are just a few of the other options for nomable baked goodies!

This special box contains Cherry Almond Florentines, Coffee Truffles, and Mini Spritz Cookies.

Next we have Profiteroles and Eclairs topped with a Chocolate Ganache and filled with a rich pastry cream.

Then comes a Cranberry Apple Pie. Very festive and delicious. Several people who don't even care for fruit pies gobbled this up.

I provided Mini Cinnamon Rolls drizzled with a Spicy Cinnamon Glaze for a baby shower a couple of months ago.

This is an example of my Signature Sugar Cookies. This one was created when I was baking Cookies for a Cause to benefit Team Danica.

Star Wars Cake

This is my most recent cake. I made this on Friday for a little boy turning six. It is covered in buttercream and embellished with fondant decorations. I made the fondant from scratch and printed out a template to use to make the Star Wars logo. Julian brought over his action figures and even helped place them on the cake!

The 6 was made from fondant and didn't have time to dry completely. Next time I would either let it dry further, or perhaps just make a sugar cookie and cover it with fondant so it has better stability.

Elegant White Cake

Sometime simplicity is prettiest. I love this design for a potential wedding cake sometime in the future. This was my first cake which I learned how to use the proper tools to achieve a smooth finish and nice, crisp edges.

Carrot Cake

One of my favorite cakes to eat is this carrot cake. I toast carrot and coconut shavings and use it to garnish the cream cheese frosting to give some extra color, eye appeal, and texture to the finished cake.

This combination can also be made into cupcakes.

Carved Cake

My oldest daughter asked for a triceratops cake because triceratops are her favorite, "because of the frill." She wanted chocolate AND white cake. She showed me with her hands, making the layers stack up, "You know, Mommy? Like, chocolate, then white, then chocolate, then white...?" The cake was to be shaped like "A real one. That LOOKS like a triceratops. Not a triceratops ON the cake." She even got to pick out the colors and I had to make sure I got the number of toes right, too. I think he turned out pretty well, and Harmony was THRILLED.

Olivia the Pig Birthday Cake

My youngest daughter was obsessed with Olivia at the time of her second birthday. We decided to have an Olivia party and I jumped at the chance to make her an Olivia the Pig Cake.

I found a picture of Olivia online which you can see on the left. I tinted a gel frosting solid pink and piped the outline of Olivia while looking at the printed picture. I then piped in the red for the dress and detailed it all with black. All of this is by hand and no template is laid on the cake. This is another great example of a cake that would be so great to have a Keepsake Cake Plate made to accompany it. How special would it be for your child to have a Keepsake Cake Plate to remember every birthday? These plates can even come with a special pen so that guests can sign and write special messages to the guest of honor that will last a lifetime.

Cupcakes

I absolutely love making cupcakes, experimenting with flavor combinations, and making them extra special for whatever event they will be heading to.

This 4th of July cupcake is a white cupcake with red jello soaking down into it. It is topped with a whipped cream frosting and topped with sugar cookies.

These cupcakes are Devil's Food Cupcakes with a Cream Cheese Frosting and topped with a Mocha Truffle.

Next we have a trio of Christmas Cupcakes. We start on the left with a Gingerbread Cupcake topped with a Red Hot Cream Cheese Frosting. Next is an Eggnog Cupcake topped with a Spiced Brandy Frosting. On the right end there is a Peppermint Devil's Food Cupcake with a Peppermint Twist Frosting.

This photo is one example of a Keepsake Cake Plate. The Christmas Trio of Cupcakes are on a custom painted ornament plate and can be customized further with the date and your choice of sentiments on the back.

Next we have Serenity. This is a Signature Cupcake that has five, yes FIVE, layers. It begins with a base of Devil's Food Cake with Frangipane. This is followed by a Chocolate Cream Cheese Mousse, Italian Custard, and is finished with a rich Chocolate Ganache. On top of this is a White and Dark Chocolate Decoration.

Lastly, we have simplicity in White Cupcakes topped with a Vanilla Frosting. These are topped with Dinosaur Sprinkles.

Care Bears Cakes

These cakes were made before I had any formal training or many special tools. Now I would be able to make sure all the icing is even and perfectly straight if desired. I was going for a little bit of a wispy sky-and-cloud kind of feel, though. My daughter asked for Care Bears cakes two years in a row. I am including these just to show the progression of my skills.
